Look for the Rainbow Instead of Focusing on the Rain

Singing in the rain photo. While I was visiting my grandbabies a huge rainstorm came into town making the day dark and dreary. However, the girls didn’t see any of that darkness, instead they saw an opportunity to splash in the rain puddles in their cute rain boots while singing a happy tune! Watching them with their bright eyes and smiling faces, seeing only the positive of the situation, instead of dwelling on the storm going on around them, reminded me there are two ways I can react to the storm I find myself living in; dwell on the rain and darkness this cancer journey brings into my life, or look through the darkness toward the light looking for the rainbow that is surely on the other end. I choose the second option, optimism and continued faith in God to see my through to healing here on earth. Yes, I choose to have faith in God to provide a miracle. A miracle by definition is, “a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.” Does this mean I never have doubt, never get drenched by rain? Of course not…I’m human…I falter…I fail. Luckily God overlooks my shortcomings and continues to keep me under His wing, giving me strength to keep going. Strength to get through one more biopsy.  Strength to get through one more recurrence. Strength to complete one more chemo treatment. Strength to just keep going.  With God’s help keep looking for the rainbow instead of focusing on the rain.

Jeremiah 17:14 “Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.”

Psalm 77:14 “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.”

Acts 3:16 “By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.
